Did another of those photo safari's but this was to downtown Los Angeles...mostly near the artists district...you can see some images at artdistrict. This time went with fellow photographers Tiffany Smith and Jim McKinniss..

Just returned from two weeks in Maui in August and want to share a set of images from a shoot with a most beautiful model, Sylvia, who lives on Maui.  Sylvia on Maui

Beginning of January went to Mexico - to the city of San Miguel de Allende.
What a beautiful historic city. An artist community with a long history - worth the trip - and here I present some of the images I took during the trip:
San Miguel de Allende.

Surprise- another walking tour with my photographer friends - this time the port city of San Pedro, California. A busy fishing fleet and a large shipping container port and a wonderful downtown area and if you go to San Pedro - don't miss the Korean bell. See the images at San Pedro.

I spent the afternoon at Bolsa Chica Wetlands is in Huntington Beach, California. The Bolsa Chica Conservancy is a non-profit, non-political organization established to ensure the preservation, restoration, and enhancement of the Bolsa Chica Wetlands. Wetlands are so important for the survival of birds, which feed and nest in the wetlands and for many fish species, that need the estuarine fish habitat to lay eggs that will hatch and later leave the estuary for the greater ocean. Without wetlands we will loose both bird and fish populations. These are some images of both the snowy and greater egrets feeding in the estuary of the Bolsa Chica Wetlands. EGRETS

Went on a walking tour of Ganna Walska Lotusland in Santa Barbara, California. This botanical garden was a family estate that is now run as a non-profit educational institution. The tour was interesting in itself, with all the history of Madame Walska and her opera career and six marriages. The photography was challenging since most of the flowering plants were not in bloom since April is a bit early, but I did get some interesting shots of early blooming cactuses and will return for the lotuses in June. Enjoy the images. Lotusland tour.

Another walking tour with my two photography buddies- stopped by Union Station in Los Angeles for some image taking and this image caught my eye - so I framed it for your pleasure - it is an image of a small section of the floor in the underground tunnel to the trains - more images can be seen at Union Station. We also stopped by the  produce market on San Pedro Street downtown Los Angeles - go early in the morning and catch the action of produce from around the world coming to this one place for distribution to the stores and restaurants of Los Angeles. Here is one of my favorites from that visit - "Hot Peppers".

Took a walking tour of the garment district in Los Angeles with two other photographers and the afternoon resulted in the following images taken during our unguided tour - thought you would like to see what my eye saw during the journey thru part of downtown. These are all the images I took with no editing at all. Here goes: walking tour All three of us had a good time, good conversation, good lunch, and it was interesting to see what other photographers see through their eyes at the same time you see something different.

April 05 - Last year I took a one month trip to Asia - specifically Hong Kong, Thailand and Okinawa. I will be putting some more photos up for sure - BUT here are two of my favorites from the trip. They were taken in Chang Mai, Thailand during a celebration called Poi Sang Long - a celebration of a young boys entering a novice monk program. You can see the complete set at Poi Sang Long. Other images from trip can be seen at Watpho - & Bangkok mostly of Wats (temples) in Bangkok. Images from Okinawa coming soon.

March 05 - I went up to the poppy fields in Lancaster, CA. for an early look at what was happening. Well with all the rain we have been having and with a bright sunny day - the poppies were starting to fill the hillsides at the poppy reserve. In a few weeks or less the area should be a blanket of orange. So here are the shots I took yesterday and I left over a thousand other shots on the hills. Click here for photos.

January 05 - Spent a wonderful week in New York City with my new Canon 20D in tow - will post some photos from trip soon - but wanted to post this one:   I asked Rachel, the bartender at LaFigaro's in the Village, if I could photograph her beautiful eyes - she said yes ! Not my best work, but are they not beautiful brown eyes. (and she is one attractive young woman)

One of the delights of the NYC trip was the new Museum of Modern Art.

Here is a tour I put together of some of my photos of the MOMA for you to enjoy.

October 04 - Bought a NEW camera - a Canon 20D - a digital SLR to add to my camera collection. It is really good - here are two images I took at Malibu Lagoon State Park. The are Brown Pelicans with the color change one sees during mating season.
