Poi Sang Long is a celebration of the Shan peoples of Southeast Asia. The events celebrate the entering of a novice Buddhist monk program by eight to fourteen year old males. For three days the boys are carried on a relatives shoulders when the boys are outside a temple or their home. There is a procession thru part of the city and a celebration at a temple before the boys enter the novice program. These photos were taken in Chang Mai, Thailand.
