This has to be one of the most beautiful and peaceful places on this earth. The changing colors as the sun moves from horizon to horizon are breathtaking. Be sure to be patient and sit for a while, for the colors change throughout the day. Come before the sun rises and be sure to stay after it sets. The colors are best during these two times of day and the place is it's most peaceful. Plan ahead and stay at the Lodge at the North Rim - you might need a year in advance reservation, but the wait is worth it.

 I lucked out - as friends could not use their reservations and I was able to go on a very short notice - what a gift!
